Comparison
Group trip planners
There is no single best group trip planner, only a best tool for each job. Use WhatsApp polls for one quick question, TripIt for confirmed bookings, Wanderlog for a detailed itinerary, Splitwise for splitting costs, Batch to book a bachelorette, and Awayfolk to plan together in one shared trip. Awayfolk publishes this page.

Most groups end up with two or three tools, and that is fine as long as everyone knows which one holds what. This page lists the common choices by the job each does best, links to a fuller comparison for each, and puts the features side by side. Awayfolk publishes this page, so it is listed last and described by the same rules as the rest.

WhatsApp polls: one quick question
A poll in the group chat is the fastest way to settle one thing, such as the weekend or the city, because everyone is already there. Polls can allow one or several answers and, since August 2026, close at an end time. The answer then scrolls away with the rest of the chat.
TripIt: bookings that are already made
TripIt turns forwarded confirmation emails into one itinerary, and shares a trip with view or edit access per person. TripIt Pro adds real-time flight alerts. Its site does not list group polls or expense splitting, so it fits once the plan is booked.
Wanderlog: a detailed itinerary
Wanderlog puts the day-by-day itinerary and the map in one view, with live collaborative editing and cost splitting between tripmates. It is the stronger choice when one or two people build a detailed plan and the others follow.
Splitwise: the money
Splitwise tracks shared expenses and balances, free on iPhone, Android and the web, with Pro features such as receipt scanning and currency conversion. Many people already have it. It does not hold the plan, so it sits beside whatever does.
Batch and Pinterest: the bachelorette
Batch, formerly BACH, is built for bachelorette and bachelor parties: guests and RSVPs, a shared itinerary, polls, chat, expenses, and bookings in more than 70 party cities. Pinterest is where the themes and outfits start.
Awayfolk: planning together in one trip
Awayfolk is one shared trip for the whole group: friends vote on ideas from the invitation link with just a first name, polls settle where and when, and the chosen ideas go on the days and the map with the bookings, packing lists and expenses. Optional Claude and ChatGPT connections save into the same trip. Core planning is free.
It is new, a web app, and it does not sell bookings or move money.
More planners compared: Stippl, Lambus, Troupe, Polarsteps and Tricount
How to choose
Pick by the hardest part of your trip. If it is one decision, a chat poll is enough. If the bookings are made, TripIt.
If one person builds a detailed plan, Wanderlog. If it is only the money, Splitwise. If it is a party you want to book in one app, Batch.
If the group has to decide together and keep it all in one place, a shared trip such as Awayfolk. Keep it to two apps, and agree on them before the first link lands in the chat.
