Guide
Ski Breckenridge with friends
Plan three ski days and an easy first night for the altitude: town sits at about 9,600 feet. Stay near Main Street for the free gondola and après, buy lift tickets online before you go, and reserve rentals. A rough budget is $1,000 to $2,200 per person for three nights with three ski days, before flights.
Breckenridge suits a group of mixed skiers: five peaks, a real town on Main Street and a free gondola from town to the slopes. Plan three ski days, one big dinner and an easy first night for the altitude. Buy lift tickets before you go.
The example trip below has the places on a map, ready to copy.
Where to stay
Staying in town, near Main Street, puts restaurants and après within walking distance; the free BreckConnect Gondola runs from the edge of town to the Peak 8 base. Ski-in, ski-out places at Peak 8 or Peak 9 cost more but save the morning shuffle. A condo or house works well for six or more and comes with a kitchen.
The town runs free buses, so a car is not essential once you have arrived.
The classics
Peak 8 for the base area and the gondola, Peaks 9 and 10 for long groomers and steeper runs, après on Main Street, and a night of tastings at the Breckenridge Distillery. Non-skiers can snowshoe to Isak Heartstone, a giant wooden troll on a trail near town. Frisco and Lake Dillon are on the way back toward Denver.
A 4-day plan
Thursday: arrive, collect rentals, an easy dinner and an early night. Friday: ski Peak 8, meet at the base for lunch, après at the brewery. Saturday: Peaks 9 and 10, then the big group dinner.
Sunday: breakfast in Frisco and back to Denver before the I-70 traffic builds. Go easy on the first day: town is at about 9,600 feet.
| Day | Daytime | Evening |
|---|---|---|
| Thursday | Arrive and collect rentals | An easy dinner and an early night |
| Friday | Ski Peak 8, lunch at the base | Après at the brewery |
| Saturday | Ski Peaks 9 and 10 | The big group dinner |
| Sunday | Breakfast in Frisco | Back to Denver before the I-70 traffic |
What to book early
Lodging first, then lift tickets: buying in advance online usually costs less than at the window, and the resort is on the Epic Pass. Reserve rentals online, then the Saturday dinner. If you are driving from Denver, check road conditions and Colorado’s winter traction rules before you leave.
Put the bookings in the trip, with times and confirmations.
Budget per person
A rough range for three nights with three ski days is $1,000 to $2,200 per person, before flights. Lodging and lift tickets are the big costs, then rentals and food. Holiday weekends cost the most.
Agree on the lodging level and whether everyone skis every day before you book.
Scale this range to your group and your nights
| Trip | Rough range | Biggest costs |
|---|---|---|
| Three nights, three ski days | $1,000 to $2,200 | Lodging and lift tickets, then rentals and food |
What to pack
Base layers, a mid layer, waterproof jacket and pants, gloves, a neck gaiter, goggles and a helmet if you own one. Sunscreen and lip balm: the sun is strong at altitude. A refillable water bottle.
Shared things, such as a speaker or a first-aid kit, go on the shared list with one name each.
Plan together
Invite everyone to one trip from a single link. People add ideas and mark the ones they want, and the plan for each day sits next to the map. On the trip, the Today view shows the day’s plan on everyone’s phone.
Splitting the money
Record the condo, groceries, gas and the group dinner in Awayfolk, with the payer and how each is split: evenly, or by exact amounts if someone is not skiing. It works out who owes whom and records repayments. Awayfolk does not move money; settle up with the app your group already uses.
A copied example trip starts its money in US dollars.
