Group trip budget calculator
Add up the place to stay, divide it by the nights everyone sleeps there, and charge each person for their own nights. Split shared costs such as the car or groceries evenly, then add each person’s own extras. This calculator does it in any currency and writes a summary to paste in the group chat.
Who pays what
| Person | Nights | Stay | Shared | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Person 1 | 3 | $327.28 | $50 | $377.28 |
| Person 2 | 3 | $327.27 | $50 | $377.27 |
| Person 3 | 3 | $327.27 | $50 | $377.27 |
| Person 4 | 2 | $218.18 | $50 | $268.18 |
The whole trip: $1,400
The stay comes to $109.09 per person per night.
Split evenly instead, it would be $350 each.
How it works
The place to stay is split by person-nights. Its total is divided by the nights everyone sleeps there, added together, and each person pays that rate for each of their own nights. Someone who stays two nights of three pays two-thirds of a full share.
Shared costs, such as a rental car, groceries or a boat, are split evenly, however long each person stays. The extras per person, such as a ticket each, are added to everyone. Amounts are rounded to the currency’s smallest unit, and the cents left over go to the largest shares, so the parts always add up to the total.
