What your AI can do

• Read the trip: dates, the travel party, the ideas, the day plan and the bookings.
• Suggest ideas and save the ones you choose to the idea bank.
• Put an idea on a day as a suggestion, which the travellers keep with one tap.
• Turn a link you paste into a card with a picture and a pin on the map.
• Save a booking from a confirmation you paste: flights leg by leg, stays with check-in and check-out.
• Keep packing lists and checklists up to date, and add typical prices marked as estimates.
• Create a new trip when you ask it to.

Nothing is booked or paid, nothing is marked confirmed until you say so, and places get a pin only when they can be found. Your AI is told to leave out passport, ID, ticket and card numbers.

Connect Claude

1. Sign in on awayfolk.app/ai and press Connect Claude. Claude opens with the connector filled in.
2. Approve it and sign in with the same Google account you use on Awayfolk.
3. Start a chat: “Plan our trip in Awayfolk.” If you have no trip yet, Claude can make one.

You can also add it by hand: in Claude, Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, with the address below. Claude’s free plan allows one custom connector.

In Claude Code or Cowork, install the plugin, which adds the same connection and a short guide for planning the Awayfolk way:

Connect ChatGPT

Settings → Apps → Advanced settings: turn on Developer mode, then create an app with the address. Needs Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu, on the web. ChatGPT shows a warning for apps that are not in its directory yet.

Use the address below and sign in with the same Google account. Once Awayfolk is listed in ChatGPT’s app directory, this becomes a single click.

Gemini and Grok

Settings & help → Connected apps → Custom apps. Only for accounts in the US for now, with Google AI Pro or Ultra.

A remote MCP server over Streamable HTTP. Sign-in is OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration, so each AI app asks you to approve it once.

Your trips, your say

This is a first-party connection: no cookies are shared with the AI app and nothing is scraped. You approve the connection once. By default the AI can use the trips you are on, including new ones, and create trips for you; on awayfolk.app/ai you can limit it to chosen trips or take access back at any time. The AI sees what you see on a trip and never another traveller’s personal lists. When someone leaves a trip, their AI loses access to it too. Trips are stored with Cloudflare in Europe.

What it costs

Connecting your own AI is free, and stays free. The AI’s work runs on your own plan with Claude or ChatGPT.

Questions

Do I need a paid AI plan?

Not for Claude: the free plan allows one custom connector. ChatGPT needs Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu, on the web. Gemini’s custom apps are only for accounts in the US for now, and Grok needs a paid plan.

Will the AI book anything?

No. It suggests and saves; you decide. A booking is marked confirmed only when you share the confirmation or say it is booked.

Do my friends need an AI too?

No. Everything the AI saves appears in the trip for the whole party, on the web, with or without an AI of their own.
